Cue Pricing - Van Hirtum Custom Cues

Our Standard Cue length is 58" with a joint diameter of .844" and a butt diameter of 1.24 to 1.250".  The distance from the joint face to the wrap is usually 12.25" and the wrap is usually 12.00 to 12.25” in length and depending on ring configurations.  Our Butt Cap can be Alternative Ivory, LBF, Pure Acrylic, Delrin, ABS or PVC.

I typically use a ¾ - 16 ID X 1.00” Stainless Steel Joint Collar with a Bullet Nose 5/16-14 X 3.25” Joint.  This joint pin and collar combination produces a very tight and precise connection between shaft & butt which gives you a better feel when you make contact with the cue ball.  I also will use self aligning pins which have a centering barrel, with a glue groove. When the centering barrel is used in conjunction with a bored (not drilled) hole, it will ensure that the pin is centered. The stainless steel pins are also electro-polished for a very nice finish

My Joint collars and Ferrules are usually threaded on.

I typically produce a four point half splice forearm or a six point half splice forearm however, any number of points can be installed in the forearm and/or the butt sleeve, as a customer option.  I typically make my forearms with Deep V-groove inlays with or without veneers and, based on my customer’s option, I will design and install many inlay designs, points, floating points, boxes, etc. or any combination of the above.  I also produce a series of Full Four Splice Forearm Cues, which I believe are truly wonderful hitting pool cues; many of my customers have purchased my Purpleheart Shafts which, I believe are both excellent playing and break cue shafts.

My standard joint trim is a simple 1/4" thick black linen collar on the shaft and behind the joint collar.  This allows you to order a spare shaft with minimum downtime, should you decide you want one at a later date.  This also makes adding an aftermarket shaft painless & less obvious.  Of course, I can make virtually any type of custom trim ring if that is your preference.  Of course, adding a spare shaft - or customizing an aftermarket shaft to match - will take more time.

I use Irish Linen as my standard wrap and I will use leather wraps and exotic wood handles at the customer’s option.  My exotic wood handles are more costly however, I believe the feel, grip and appearance of a beautiful wood handle truly makes a beautiful pool cue.
